Definition: Life expectancy is the number of years an individual is expected to live if current age-specific death rates continue into the future.
 
Where are we: Individuals born in 2009 in Spokane County are expected to live for 79 years. The number of years of expected life remained stable from 2005 to 2009. Life expectancy in 2009 in Spokane County was lower than Washington State, but higher than the United States.
 
Health Disparities:
Among Spokane County residents in 2009:
 
  • Females were expected to live longer than were males.
  • Compared to Whites, Asian/Pacific Islanders had a longer life expectancy.
