Definition: Rate of births and abortions per 1,000 women 15-44 years of age.
Why is this important: Many public health services emphasize appropriate care and behavior during pregnancy to ensure a healthy outcome for both the mother and infant.
Where are we: In 2009 in Spokane County, there were 7,326 pregnancies. There was no significant change in the pregnancy rate from 2005 to 2009. The pregnancy rate in Spokane County was significantly lower than that of Washington State in 2009.
