Although the Spokane Regional Health District does not regulate area lakes and rivers, bathers are cautioned about Swimmer’s Itch (PDF), a frequent occurrence during warmer weather.

The Inland Northwest Drowning Prevention Coalition is a group of community organizations and agencies working to raise awareness about water safety and reduce drowning in eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Formed in 1991, the Coalition promotes water safety with the Washington State Drowning Prevention Coalition and the Safe Kids Spokane Coalition.
