Water Recreation Facilities
Spokane Regional Health District's Water Recreation Program protects public health by working with owners and operators of public and semi-public water recreation facilities to prevent drowning, illnesses and injuries. The Water Recreation Program is staffed by three environmental health specialists (inspectors) and a technical advisor, in addition to clerical and management support.
Inspections & Permits
The Health District issues permits to all public and semi-public water recreation facilities such as pools and spas and inspects each one at least annually for compliance with state regulations. We permit approximately 169 seasonal and 82 annual facilities each year.
Plan Review
Construction of new establishments, remodeling of existing establishments, and any changes in equipment of water recreation facilities must be approved before construction or equipment changes may occur.
Complaints
Complaints and illnesses associated with Health District-permitted water recreation facilities are investigated. Call 324-1560.
