Public Health Emergency Planning and Response
The Spokane Regional Health Districts Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan is designed for all types of public health emergencies. The plan defines roles and responsibilities for four phases of emergencies: mitigation, planning, response and recovery. It is linked with other emergency response organizations in Spokane County and their respective emergency plans. It also provides a link to regional and state plans.
Emergency planning with key community partners is essential. These partners include the City/County Department of Emergency Management (DEM), local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services (EMS), hospitals, and volunteer organizations such as the American Red Cross. Our emergency preparedness and response plan is strengthened through training and exercises on a regular basis.
In the event of an emergency, the Spokane Regional Health District will communicate with the public through the local media. Information will also be posted to this website and the District’s Health Information Line (509) 323-2847.
In addition to emergency preparedness efforts in Spokane County, the Spokane Regional Health District was appointed by the Washington State Department of Health to lead public health emergency preparedness planning for the ten-county Eastern Washington region (Region 9). The counties in this region include: Adams, Asotin, Columbia, Ferry, Garfield, Lincoln, Pend Orielle, Spokane, Stevens and Whitman Counties. The Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response brochure (pdf) provides details and contact information about this planning effort.
