About Provider Contracts:
All providers who want to participate in this program must first sign a contract. Contracts will cover services provided from the day of receipt of the signed contract through June 30. The total amount of all contracts in any given year is variable; however, for fiscal year 2008, the total is expected to be $350,000. All services are paid at Medicare reimbursement rates, except for digital mammography, which is paid at conventional film rates.
About the Program:
The BCH program is made possible through a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Washington State Department of Health, and the eastern Washington affiliate of the Susan G Komen Foundation.
The program pays for early detection of breast and/or cervical cancer for low income women between the ages of 40 and 64 years. The overall goal of the program is to increase women’s survival from breast and cervical cancer. For women who are diagnosed with cancer, a system is in place to pay for their treatment needs. In fiscal year 2007, SRHD’s BCH program enrolled over 600 new clients and maintained an active client database of over 2,000 women. In eastern Washington, the program has continued to see year-to-year increases in newly enrolled clients. Based on current estimates, each year 10-20 eastern Washington women will have their lives saved as a result of this program. We serve clients from our nine-county region.
Program eligibility:
- Women between the ages of 40 and 64
- Women who are at or below 250% of the federal poverty level
- Women who have no other means to pay for breast or cervical screenings, such as women without health insurance
- Women who are NOT on Medicaid
