Tobacco Free Spokane:

  • Supports a wide range of activities aimed at reducing the purchase and use of tobacco products
  • Focuses on policy change, working with schools, employers, youth organizations and diverse populations
  • Advocates for a tobacco free community through the media, public presentations and public awareness campaigns
  • Coordinates activities with the Spokane Teens Against Tobacco peer education group.

Tobacco Free Spokane has implemented a Tobacco-Free Zone Project with the City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department to designate tobacco free zones in dozens of park playgrounds, play structures, pools, skate parks and other places where children gather and play. The goal is to provide positive role modeling for children by non-smoking adults. Tobacco free zones are self-policing by park users.
