Nurses in the Health Districts Clinic can confirm head lice and recommend treatment. The Health District is not able to give prescriptions for head lice treatment. Call (509) 324-1600, to schedule an appointment.
The Six Steps to Getting Rid of Head Lice are:
- Examine everyone in the family and household
- Treat only those who are infested with head lice and/or their eggs
- Comb out all adult lice, juvenile lice (nymphs) and eggs you find
- Clean use normal house cleaning measures
- Repeat & Re-Check look at everyones head every day until one week beyond finding the last louse or egg
- Notify everyone that may be affected (school, church, daycare, friends, family) to prevent further infestation.

- Head lice spread from person to person, almost always by head-to-head contact
- Head lice are a nuisance, but do not spread disease
- Lice dont jump or fly
