Access to Baby & Child Dentistry (ABCD) Program

The ABCD Program matches medicaid-eligible children, under age 6, to a dentist. All you need is your child’s medical coupon and your promise that you will follow the dentist’s instructions. Remember, first dental visit by first birthday. Visit www.smileabcd.org or call (509) 324-1478.

Who is eligible?

  • All children, 0-6 years-of-age,
  • With a DSHS medical coupon,
  • Who live in Washington State.

What this program will do:

  • Give your child a great start in life by making sure all baby teeth are healthy.
  • Provide a positive dental experience.
  • Prevent your child from later experiencing the pain and discomfort of dental disease.

Benefits:

  • 3 fluoride varnish applications per year
  • 2 dental examinations per year
  • 2 parent education sessions per year
  • Restorative care as needed

Nearly 100 dentists in Spokane County are certified to participate in the ABCD program. Program staff work closely with these dentists, providing case management with ABCD parents, and technical assistance on ABCD program administration.
