Training Workshops
HIV/AIDS training workshops are offered by the Spokane Regional Health District to professionals involved in caring for individuals with HIV/AIDS or professionals who will be administering HIV tests to clients.
Current workshops include:
HIV/AIDS Workshop for Health Care Professionals
One-day; 7-hour Course
2008 Classes Dates: Jan 18, Feb 15, April 11, May 9, July 11, Aug 8, Oct 10 and Nov 14.
- Completion of this course is required for Washington State licensure for various medical/health professionals.
- Topics covered include etiology and epidemiology of HIV/AIDS, transmission and infection control, legal and ethical concerns, testing and counseling, clinical manifestations and treatment, and psychosocial issues.
- All classes are offered at the Spokane Regional Health District, 1101 West College Avenue, in rooms 310 and 311.

Washington State HIV Prevention Counseling & Testing 3-day Course
Three-days; 8:30-5:00pm
Participants MUST be present for the full 3-day period.
Class Dates: Sept 9, 10, & 11, 2008
- This 3-day course is designed to provide HIV counselors with the skills necessary to provide pre/post-test counseling. Participants need a basic understanding of anatomy, physiology and HIV.
- Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate the minimum components of HIV pre- and post-test counseling.
- Have a working knowledge of WA State law regarding HIV pre- and post-test counseling.
- Have a basic understanding of partner notification and case reporting.
- Class is offered at the Spokane Regional Health District, 1101 West College Avenue, in room 320.
