No Meningitis Linked to Steriod in WA

Updated Oct 18, 2012

Currently there’s a multi-state outbreak of fungal meningitis linked to a specific type of injected steroid. There are no cases of this type of illness reported in our state. The product linked to the illnesses was not shipped here, although the manufacturer – the New England Compounding Center – has shipped other kinds of products to Spokane. These additional products have also been recalled as a precaution. Facilities in our state and in Spokane that received the recalled products are being notified.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has more information about the meningitis outbreak, including maps showing states where cases were reported and health care facilities that received products linked to illnesses.
